The Myke Phoenix trilogy

myke trilogy final

“The universe shifted, and something dark burst from a yawning crack in the nature of being.”

Thus, darkly, began what has become more of a whimsical series of stories, populated by talking ducks and dinosaurs, fire-spitting giant spiders, the world’s nicest bad guy, and alien blobs. I’m in the process of reconfiguring the Myke Phoenix saga, and the ebook versions of the trilogy debuted over the weekend.

Myke Phoenix: A Hero is Chosen (formerly The Adventures of Myke Phoenix) introduces Paul Phillips, a hard-working reporter who comes in touch with the Soulkeeper of Kiribati and the essence of an ancient warrior named Mychus. These stories, most of them written 25 years ago, represent our hero trying to find his voice.

The Puzzle of the Talking Dinosaur (formerly stories 2-6 of Myke Phoenix: Year of the Dinosaur) is set 18 years after the origin of Myke, as new threats to our collective calm emerge, new friends are met, and the stage is set for …

Claws of Death (formerly stories 7 and 9-12 of MP:YOTD), the climactic struggle where evil forces combine and a new power for good emerges. Little secret? All of these stories were written with the idea they could stand alone, so if you start with Book 3, or Book 2, or Book 1, you should be able to figure out what’s going on.

Sharp-eyed readers will notice the reconfiguration does not include the 8th adventure in the Year of the Dinosaur dodecology, The Puppy Cried ‘Murder.’ Let’s just say I have some special plans for Goombah.
